From Times Square to the streets of Washington.

Six weeks after New York, the campaign moved to the United States capital through another network of volunteers and supporters.

  • Outdoor placements from May 3 to June 3
  • Coordinated by Art Dimopoulos
  • Supported by AHEPA and the American Hellenic Institute

Art Dimopoulos coordinated the Washington effort, with support from AHEPA and the American Hellenic Institute. The placements began on May 3 and continued through June 3, 2012.

The campaign’s Santorini dome appeared on 7th Street, on a large wallscape, beside a Metro station, and at a bus shelter. A second image featured a windsurfer assembled from hundreds of small photographs. Together they carried the same invitation as New York while adapting it to the streets of Washington.

Contemporary reports described discussions about Boston, Atlanta, and Chicago. The surviving record confirms Washington, but not that those additional boards went up. This archive distinguishes the placements that can be documented from the ambitions discussed at the time.
